Jazz Music Summer Camp and Festival in Narva-Jõesuu" ("JCF) ER195 is a project aimed at capitalising the results of the previous project (ER161 Borderless).

The project ER161 (Borderless Music)  includes a series of jazz music master classes in Narva and St. Petersburg within the framework of the "Estonia-Russia CBC Programme".

As part of the project, 6 two-day master classes will be held in Narva and 6 two-day master classes in St. Petersburg. The trainers of the master classes are the top interpreters in their field from Estonia and Russia. All jazz music enthusiasts who wish to hone and improve their skills are invited to participate. To participate in the masterclass, at least the last grade of a children's music school or the first year of a vocational school is required. The number of participants in one master class is 20 people, which are divided in half between Narva and St. Petersburg. "Borderless Music" promotes international and cross-border cultural cooperation between the border areas of Estonia and Russia, promoting direct contacts at the regional level and carrying out joint activities in the field of jazz music.

The venue in Estonia is TU Narva College and the JFC jazz club in St. Petersburg.

29.-30. In May 2021, a master class of improvisation by jazz pianist and composer Vladimir Vysotski will be held at Narva College within the framework of the "Borderless Music" project.

The workshop takes place in the format of a contact meeting, subject to restrictions, those who wish to join the master class can also use the webcast.

Vladimir Võsotski is a pianist, composer, teacher, one of the most sought-after musicians in Estonia. Over the years of his creative activity, his stage partners have been musicians such as Tõnis Mägi, Lembit Saarsalu, Sofia Rubina, Toivo Unt, Rio Kawasaki and many others. Vladimir Vyssotski is the director of the Sillamäe Music School and Cultural Center, and he also organizes the international festival Jazz Time.

Students of senior classes of music schools and students of the music academy are invited to participate. Music that dominates the playing of instruments is also welcome.

The workshop lasts 2 days and takes place during the day (starting at 13:00 on both days). The duration of one training day is 1.5-2 hours.

At the end of the second day of the master class, the concert SUNNY DAY IN NARVA will be held at Narva College, which can be seen and heard by the participants of the pre-registered training program. Everyone else has the option to join the webcast of the concert.

On October 1 and 2, 2021, another event will take place in Narva within the framework of the "Borderless Music" project. The master class of inspiring rhythms will be conducted by the renowned Estonian jazz musician Tanel Ruben.

Tanel Ruben is a jazz, drummer, lecturer and composer, working as a musician since the 1990s. Tanel has recorded more than 60 audio records, 9 of which he has produced himself. In addition to his freelance work, he has been working as an associate professor at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater since 2000. He is also one of the creators of the jazz music department together with Jaak Sooäere and Raul Sööd at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater.

The Master class

On February 2 and 3, a master class titled "Creativity, technology, improvisation" will be held in Narva, conducted by the outstanding Estonian guitarist and composer Robert Jürjendal.

The concert

The second day of the master class ends with a jazz concert performed by Robert Jürjendal, which will take place on February 3, starting at 19:00 in the lobby of Narva College. The concert is free to watch online for participants who have pre-registered for the master class. When visiting the concert on site, the ticket sales conditions of Narva Jazz Club apply.

On May 14 - 15, 2022, the master class "From live electronics to improvisation" by Estonian keyboard virtuoso and master improviser Raun Juurikas will be held at Narva College.

The workshop will take place in the College auditorium in a face-to-face format, but you can also join the webcast if you wish.

Raun Juurikas is one of Estonia's leading improvisers, he studied classical and jazz piano and graduated from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater with a major in composition. He is known as a creator of exciting electronic sound worlds, arranger, composer and musician with a wide profile.

Raun's creative challenges also include composing for various ensembles on a wide scale: modern academic music, jazz, ambient, hip-hop, reggae, dub, experimental electronics, funk, etc. 

Students and teachers of senior classes of music schools, as well as musicians proficient in playing instruments and other music enthusiasts are invited to participate.

The workshop lasts for 2 days at the following times: May 14, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM and May 15, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

On June 6-7, 2022, the master class "Ethnic roots of improvisation and composing" by Estonia's best-known saxophonist and composer Villu Veski will be held at Narva College, where the main topic is the sense of a musician's roots in music writing and improvisation.

Villu Veski has performed in the world's most famous concert halls - Berliner Philharmonie, London Queen Elizabeth Hall, Tokyo Opera City, Toronto Ford Center, Bruckner House Austria. He has countless cooperation projects both at home and abroad. Villu Veski and Tiit Kalluste's project "NoridcSounds" from 1997 is still the most successful in terms of both record sales and the geography of concert tours. Several cooperation partners of Villu Vesk, such as Eivor, Pipi Piazzolla, Ola Onabule, Laima Vaikule, Raimonds Pauls, are also familiar to the Estonian audience. Villu Veski's music has been used in several films and TV series. The documentary "Colors of the Islands" tells about his own musical activities in Muhumaa, the Faroe Islands and Hawaii. 

Villu Veski is also the founder and artistic director of Festival Juu Jääb. His work has been awarded the state's V class Order of the White Star.

The project "Borderless Music” invites all music lovers to take part in an exciting day of mini-lectures and music at the Estonian National Museum!

On June 29, starting at 15:00, Oleg Pissarenko, Villu Veski, Raun Juurikas, Tiit Kalluste, Taavo Remmel and others will take the stage of the Hurda Hall to share their experiences and understandings of music and also make music together. Villu Veski talks about feeling his roots in music and finding his personal sound language through them. Raun Juurikas reveals the secrets of improvisational music based on live electronics, and Oleg Pissarenko talks about the therapeutic effects of music. 

At the end of the day of mini-lectures and music, you can hear a concert performed by the artists who spoke beforehand.
